At Milestone & Collis we understand that dealing with the property and affairs of someone who has passed away can be a difficult and sensitive time.
Our experienced team is here to provide clear, professional and compassionate property advice, helping to make this part of the probate process as straightforward as possible.
We offer free property valuations for probate and estate purposes, providing an informed assessment of the property’s current market value. If the property is to be sold at a later stage, we can also offer guidance on its preparation, marketing and eventual sale, with no obligation.
Understanding the Probate Process
When administering an estate, an executor or administrator will usually need to carry out the following important steps:
Contact relevant organisations, such as banks, financial institutions and utility providers, to help identify the person’s assets and outstanding liabilities.
Where a property forms part of the estate, its value may be required to help determine the overall value of the estate for probate and Inheritance Tax purposes.
Depending on the circumstances, details of the estate may need to be provided to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and any applicable Inheritance Tax dealt with within the required timescales.
Every estate and every family’s circumstances are different. Our role is to provide the property expertise you need, with care, discretion and without pressure.
Where specialist legal or tax advice is required, we would also be happy to introduce you to trusted local solicitors and professional advisers who can guide you through the wider probate process.
